This highly automated 5-axis machining centre has been engineered to maximise productivity through unattended operation, enabling continuous manufacturing and true lights-out production.
Combining the proven performance of the U600 5-axis machining centre with the TP-500 automatic workpiece changer, the new system provides manufacturers with a powerful solution for increasing efficiency, flexibility and machine utilisation. The integrated automation package enables seamless pallet and workpiece handling, allowing production to continue around the clock with minimal operator intervention.
At the heart of the system is the TAKUMI U600, a high-performance 5-axis machining centre built around a rigid double-column gantry structure that delivers exceptional stability and vibration resistance. The machine offers a generous 600 mm diameter rotary table with a 500 kg table load capacity, making it suitable for a wide range of complex components across aerospace, medical, precision engineering, toolmaking, and mould and die applications. Equipped with a 15,000 rpm direct-drive spindle, rapid traverse rates of up to 36 m/min, and simultaneous 5-axis capability, the U600 is designed to achieve both high metal removal rates and outstanding surface finishes. Its rigid construction, roller-type linear guideways and precision ball screws ensure excellent accuracy and repeatability, even during demanding machining operations.
Further enhancing precision is TAKUMI’s Spin-TC™ thermal compensation technology. Designed to compensate for spindle-generated heat, Spin-TC™ reduces thermal error by up to 83%, helping maintain machining accuracy even during prolonged operation. Precision is maintained throughout unmanned production runs, giving manufacturers confidence in part quality during lights-out machining. The U600 also incorporates spindle cooling, thermal expansion compensation systems and direct measurement technologies to further support long-term accuracy and process reliability.
