The BTD Series of horizontal boring machines are designed around a full rotary B axis table and a moving column, enabling the spindle/quill to reach all points within the work envelope from the centre line of index to the outer periphery of the component, often making this type of machine more adaptable than a horizontal machining centre.
To achieve tight tolerances, linear scales are fitted as standard and there is a choice of spindle arrangements to cater for both heavy duty, high torque cutting and high speed contour machining for mould & die applications. To minimise set-up times, a pallet changer model is available and probing can be used to automatically compensate for workpiece misalignment on the table. Facing heads and expandable boring bars can be used for large and multi-stepped bores. Single point grooving can be carried out directly from the spindle without the use of attachments and the rotary milling function allows cylindrical and end surfaces to be machined, eliminating the need for independent rotary tables.
