KDM have announced the release of the K Series of vertical turning centres, the first one being exhibited at Simtos 2014 earlier this year. Based on previous successful KDM installations in the U.K, Leader CNC Technologies had the confidence to bring the K12 machine to the U.K and it is now successfully running in a local company manufacturing high value components.
Machine table sizes range from Ø1,000 mm to Ø1,600 mm. The tables are driven by a high power 37 kW motor developing between 12,000 and 24,000 N.m of torque, depending on model. Where fitted, the 50 taper milling spindle develops 1,180 N.m of torque. Rigidity and robustness are evidenced by the machine mass – 15 tons (K10) to 32 tons (K16).
The K Series machines are available as either turn only or fitted with a gear driven C axis and driven tools for drilling, tapping and boring. The machining area is fully enclosed and the machines can be equipped with angle heads, auto tool measurement, spindle probes or hydraulic chucks.
The high accuracy and heavy metal removal capability makes the K Series of machines particularly suitable for aerospace, oil & gas, power generation and marine industries, where superior surface finishes on hard materials are required.
