Ellwood City Forge, a large steelworks company, has recently taken delivery of the largest flat bed CNC lathe made by one of Leader CNC’s principals, FAT Haco. The massive cast iron bed, carriage and headstock were all cast in FAT Haco’s own foundry.
The specifications of the TUR 4 MN 3000 are truly impressive. The TUR can handle components 22M long, 3M in diameter weighing up to 100 tons. The main spindle is driven by a 220 k.W motor developing 30000 Nm of torque. The machine is equipped with special steadies, milling attachments and the powered tailstock has been designed with a 600 x 600 mm square quill to cope with the massive weights and cutting forces.
Similar very large lathes have been supplied to Thyssen Krupp and Leader CNC supplies the complete range of small to medium sized lathes from FAT Haco.
