This summer FAT Haco announced completion of two special projects – a slant-bed FTM 1000 x 7500 and a three-shear TUR 3MN 1300 x 4000.
This large FTM is a slant bed 5-axis multi-tasking CNC lathe equipped with a Siemens 840 D SL CNC system with Shopturn, ideal for applications combining turning and milling. The FTM 1000 x 7500 is equipped with various turrets, a tool magazine, Y / B axes and a sub-spindle. The first of these impressive lathes has already been sold to a customer in Australia.
The TUR 3MN 1300 x 4000, generally based on the heavier TUR4MN, is the newest lathe which utilises a 3 guideway bed. The TUR 3MN is available in two versions, standard or medium duty, depending on choice of headstocks, spindles, tooling arrangements and tailstock configurations. This type of bed/carriage design allows tools to be driven past steady rests, allowing long parts to be turned whilst fully supported along their entire length without interference. This lathe will be exhibited at this year’s AMB show in Stuggart, Germany, in September.
A TUR1350MN × 4M has been supplied to a manufacturer of large diameter crane drums and spools, with the lathe specially adapted for efficient machining of Lebus grooves (see diagram). These helical grooves, whilst continuous, are generated inclusive of two half-pitch offset sections in each revolution. Control, accuracy and synchronicity of axes is essential and the TUR is able to achieve these at a high cutting speed.
